CompuLearn has organized a Mediation Course in Cooperation with The Lime Tree in the Netherlands and Nedar Educatief

Two professional Mediators/Trainers, Prof. Jan van Zwieten RI/RA/RO and Mr. Roy Ho Ten Soeng, came from the Netherlands to provide a Mediation Course to a group of individuals who are working in key positions of government or Business society, that want to learn the noble art of Mediation. The group of Mediation students excisting of  Mito Croes, Reint Roosien, Paul van der Sloot, Jacqueline Bastien-Sherman, Toy BalentinMarquerite van den Eijnden, Amalin Flanegin, Myriam Jacobs, Rocco Tjon and Viveca Wiersma will become registrated Mediator after they finish the Mediation Course and succesfully pass the special assessment.

Mediation takes, according to The Lime Tree, an attitude that combines 'hard' and 'soft'. It also takes a Business attitude and an eye for emotions and motives. Rigid positions in a conflict can only be softened by hard measures. That is what the students wil learn in de course. The course is characterized by a mix of theorie, skills and attitude. Mediators have only one instrument: themselves. The attitude in conflicts and taking advantage of intuition are two important pillars of the basic courses from The Lime Tree. The Business owner that look toward mediation as a growing market, but also the consultant, the business professional, the HRM Manager and other Managers can get the Mediation knowledge and skills that are needed to help them solve conflicts.

In the Netherlands, it is already a normal procedure that judges send people who have a conflict to a Mediator, in order to solve the conflict efficiently and effectively. At this moment the stakeholders of mediation are looking at the possibilties to work in the same way on Aruba and in the Netherlands Antilles.
